Ramona Cedeno Bio
{By: Ramona Cedeno} Growing up as the eldest of four sisters in the countryside of the Dominican Republic, I had a wonderful childhood. But I always dreamt of more. I wanted the freedom to come and go as I pleased and go whenever I wanted to, something I had little of coming from protective parents. I thought money would give me that freedom. When the first elementary school was built in my town, I discovered I loved learning and reading and that love for reading showed me the vast world I could have access to – again something money could make possible for me.
I guess you could say that what you put out to the universe does become reality. At the age of 19, I migrated to New York City.
I have always been told that I was good at making financial decisions. The first person to say that to me was Mom, and it always stuck with me. The positive impact that had on me pushed me in the direction of a finance career and to pursue better career opportunities. I was also mindful of my spending and intentional making financial decisions that would help me create a secure future.
I obtained a bachelor’s in accounting, an MBA in finance, and my CPA and CFP® licenses. You could say I love numbers. I’m starting to believe it myself (smiley face!). I held various finance roles at Time, Inc, Geller & Co, and Handy Technologies. In 2015, I founded my accounting practice, FiBrick.
As the CEO of FiBrick, I have assisted hundreds of companies, and their founders gain clarity around their finances to increase profitability and net worth. Yes, we provide bookkeeping, tax and fractional CFO services, but what makes us different is our approach to providing our services: empowering and educating.
My personal mission is to help others live lives free from money worries. I pursue this mission by educating and inspiring others. In May of 2022, I published my debut book Simple Choices Big Rewards in Money. This book was written with the intent of spreading the message that financial stability is attainable and does not need to come with sacrifices. I encourage the readers to develop a positive money mindset that will lead to the successful pursuit of one’s money goals. Included in this book are my personal stories and anecdotes from people who have achieved financial independence and empowerment.
I’m also able to reach the masses through my speaking engagements at conferences or media outlets, contributions to publications, as a mentor of WENYC, board member for the New York State Society of CPAs, and an advisory board member for New York State’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
Choosing a career that I am passionate about has allowed me to be fulfilled personally and financially. This is particularly the reason that I feel compelled to help others create better money habits and choices. One’s relationship with money is greatly attributed to their attitude and willingness to become financially empowered. And when we feel financially empowered, we are able to fully enjoy the things and the people that bring us joy.
