WOW (Women of Whiskey) Awards – Celebrating the Trailblazers 

In a world where whiskey has long been considered a man’s domain, the inaugural WOW (Women of Whiskey) Awards spotlighted the remarkable achievements of women in the industry. Hosted by Bourbon Women in collaboration with the Bourbon Women Foundation, this event celebrated trailblazers who have made indelible marks in the whiskey world.

The winners represent a diverse array of talent and expertise, each contributing their unique skills to the industry:

  1. Legacy Achievement Award: Rebecca Harris, Founder and Chief Distiller of Catoctin Creek Distilling Co., stood out for her pioneering spirit and dedication to craft.
  2. Master Distiller/Production Manager of the Year: Alex Castle, Master Distiller and Senior Vice President of Old Dominick, exemplified excellence in distillation and management.
  3. Master Blender of the Year: Heather Greene, Master Distiller, Founder, and CEO of Milam & Greene Whiskey, showcased her exceptional blending skills.
  4. Brand Ambassador of the Year: Angel Teta, National Guardian of Advocacy & Brand Culture at Angel’s Envy, captivated audiences with her passion and expertise.
  5. Woman-Owned Brand of the Year: Heaven Hill Brands, led by a team of inspiring women, continues to make waves in the industry.
  6. Bartender of the Year: Tiffanie Barriere, known as The Drinking Coach, wowed with her creativity and skill behind the bar.
  7. Spirits Influencer/Podcaster of the Year: Sara Ahlgrim of It’s Bourbon Night shared her love and knowledge of whiskey with audiences worldwide.
  8. Spirits Writer of the Year: Phoebe Calver, Editor of American Whiskey Magazine, crafted compelling narratives that showcased the richness of the whiskey world.
  9. Spirits-Diversity Program of the Year: Beam Suntory (Suntory Global Spirits) is recognized for its commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within the industry.
  10. Mike Keyes Champion/Ally of the Year: Emma Hutchens, Chief of Human Resources at Heaven Hill Brands, demonstrated unwavering support for her colleagues and peers.

These extraordinary women were nominated for their exceptional contributions and unwavering commitment to excellence. They embody the spirit of innovation and dedication that inspires us all.

Heather Wibbels, Managing Director of Bourbon Women, expressed her excitement, stating, “We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate the leadership and change that these individuals are bringing to the whiskey industry. Collectively, they represent a groundswell of change in the whiskey world, and we are proud to uplift and celebrate the phenomenal women who do that work every day.”

In addition to honoring these outstanding individuals, the event also saw Sara Osborne of MML&K Government Solutions receive the Lois Mateus Award Networking Award from the Kentucky Distillers Association, highlighting the importance of connection and networking in the industry.
