Last-Minute Summer Adventure Ideas
{ By Miranda Martin }
August is upon us, and that means the end of summer is approaching. However, we still have a little while longer to go, which means there’s plenty of time to sneak in a few final summer activities before the kids go back to school!
Family-fun activities to make the most of the last weekends of summer
When I was a kid it didn’t take much to make me happy, and I believe the same rings true for kids today. Some things families can do before summer ends include activities like…
- Mini-golfing: You can find a mini-golf course almost anywhere, and it’s a fun, typically inexpensive way to spend a few hours with the entire family in some friendly competition!
- Going out for ice cream: Another classic, simple summer activity, going out for ice cream can be done after a long day of swimming, playing, and the like, and is usually a hit with everyone in the family!
- Swimming: Haven’t been for a lake or beach day yet this summer? There are still a few weekends of summer left to go take a dip in your favorite nearby body of water (and, often, it’s free to do so!)
- Hosting a backyard cookout: Have a backyard and a grill? Host a cookout! Whip up something simple, like easy vegetable skewers and simple salads (along with some classic brats and burgers) and everyone is sure to have fun laughing, talking, and of course eating at this classic backyard event.
- Hiking: It’s good for the soul to get out into nature, and almost always free to do so as well! Spice up your hiking trip even more by making it a full-fledged camping trip, too.
No matter where you hail from, the last few weeks of summer can be best enjoyed with family and friends doing these simple, classic activities that offer summer fun for everyone
