Love Letter To Self
Written by, Jodi Silverman
Big Wild Love—that’s what my friend Jill and I talked about during episode#44 of Beyond Empty Nest Podcast. If you haven’t listened to or watched it yet, I dare you to do so after this. AND if you have heard it already, you may remember that Big Wild Love is all about Loving yourself first.
Every woman I meet navigating an empty nest or other midlife challenges tells me they desire to discover their purpose, find meaning in their life, feel fulfilled, and have fun. Spoiler alert: all this is possible, but only if you start with YOU. A journey of discovering purpose, fulfillment, and fun begins with knowing your self-worth, and today, this entire episode is your DARE!
Today I DARE you to write yourself a Love Letter! That’s right a love letter, I DARE you to look inward and give yourself the credit you deserve for simply being you.
To recognize yourself for being the amazing person you are. I’m giving you a permission slip to give yourself some Big Wild Love, and here’s why:
Writing yourself a love letter is a great way to reconnect with your true self-worth. We spend so much time looking outside of ourselves for worth through our children, our partners, and our work that we fail to see what’s right in front of us: ourselves.
Most of us are too busy giving love to others, our children, our parents, our work, and our partners to recognize our greatness. Yes, we all have greatness within us, and this DARE is all about giving you permission to shift your focus from loving on everyone else to loving yourself.
I’ve learned about this process from many people over the years and the simplest way was through a fellow coach and friend of mine. Amira Heim. I can’t take credit for coming up with this idea or the prompts to help you get started and yet I’m not sure who the originator was, but this is how you’re going to begin.
HOW TO WRITE YOURSELF A LOVE LETTER
Step 1: Dear [insert your name or make it fun and give yourself a nickname), Gorgeous
I love how I … (show up for my family when they need me)
Jodi. I admire you for …(never giving up even when you try something new and it doesn’t always work out)
Jodi, I respect the fact you…. You don’t envy others, rather you’re truly happy when good things happen to others.
Jodi I am proud of you for … embracing your spiritual gifts and diving into connecting more with them and I’m also proud of you for learning to let yourself off the hook when you fall back on old behaviors and instead being aware when ti happens and learning from the experience.
Thank you for always …finding the good , even in the difficult situations and thank you for always being willing to learn and grow through personal development.
With Love Daringly yours,
Jodi
