Common Ways to Care About Your Mental Health
By: Amanda Cigol
Keeping care of your mental health is extremely important. With all the chaos of daily life, sometimes we put ourselves and our mental health on the back burner. Here are some easy and common ways you can put your mental wellbeing first.
Exercise
Any sort of way you can get your body moving can be beneficial for your health. Not only does exercise help your physical health, but any physical activity can help your mental health as it increases those “feel good” endorphins. Anything from a brisk walk in the park to a jog on the treadmill, dedicating time to exercise keeps your body busy and your mind at ease.
Journaling
Ever feel like your mind is going one hundred miles a minute? Why not jot down those thoughts and feelings? Journaling can help you work through stress or hard emotions. Every day, try to write something down, no matter what it is! Write about something great that happened during your day, a positive affirmation, or a goal you might have. With just a paper and pencil, you are reminding yourself that your thoughts and feelings are valid.
DIY Spa Day
Sometimes, you just need some “you time”. One way you can help boost your mental health is by hosting your own spa day. Run a warm bath, put on a face mask, light some candles, grab a book, and just simply relax. Anything that is causing stress or mental strain, just envision it melting away. Dedicating time to pamper yourself may help you feel more confident and at ease.
These are just a few of the many ways you can uplift your mental health. No matter how big or small your method is, putting yourself first matters most. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health!
