The Sacred Art of Self-Care: Why You Deserve More Than Just Me Time

Written by  Cryss Simmons, Founder of Lamb and Honey

New Year, Fresh Start, Right? Riiiigggghht! This is what we tell ourselves all the time.

We’re barely into the new year, and already, the world is throwing “new year, new me” energy at us. Vision boards, goal-setting, detox teas – everybody has got a plan for how this year is supposed to go. But before we jump into the doing, can we pause for a moment and talk about being?

Because if we’re honest, a lot of us spent last year running on fumes, showing up for everyone but ourselves. We gave, we poured, we carried, we managed. And now, we’re exhausted.

So before you add more to your plate, I need YOU to ask yourself: What if self-care wasn’t an afterthought? What if it was the foundation?

Self-Care Isn’t a Luxury, it’s a Necessity

Sis, listen. If you don’t prioritize yourself, life will always find a way to put you last. And I’m not talking about a once-in-a-while spa day (though, I fully support it). I’m talking about the kind of self-care that keeps you whole physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

It’s not selfish to care for yourself. It’s survival.

This year, I want you to shift from occasional self-care to sacred self-care. To see caring for yourself as a divine responsibility; not something to fit in when you have the time, but something you honor every single day.

The Ritual of Renewal

At Lamb and Honey, we believe that self-care should be intentional. It should feel good, smell good, and most importantly, be good for you. That’s why our products are designed to turn your daily routine into a moment of reflection and renewal.

Here’s how you can start:

  • Pause before you pour. Before you pour into work, family, and responsibilities, take a moment to pour into yourself. Morning prayer, stretching, deep breaths, something that centers you.
  • Make cleansing sacred. When you shower or wash your face, don’t just do it out of habit. Set an intention. Let the water cleanse more than just your skin; let it wash away stress, doubt, and the burdens of yesterday.
  • Nourish what’s been neglected. Whether it’s your skin, your body, or your heart, take time to replenish. Use products that restore, eat foods that fuel, and give yourself words that heal.
  • Seal it in with love. Just like we lock in moisture, we need to lock in peace. Protect your energy. Set boundaries. Give yourself permission to rest without guilt.

This Year, Let’s Choose Ourselves on Purpose

When you commit to sacred self-care, everything shifts. Your energy is different. Your confidence rises. You stop accepting the bare minimum because you know you deserve more.

And this isn’t just about skincare (though glowing skin is a bonus! – it’s about reclaiming your time, your peace, and your power. It’s about walking into this new year knowing that taking care of yourself isn’t optional. It’s essential.
