Be Olivia: When You See a Void, Use Your Power to Fill It
Some of the most meaningful movements don’t begin with permission. They begin with someone recognizing that something is missing and deciding to build it.
That’s exactly what Olivia Rodrigo has done with her newly announced Daisy Chain Fields festival—a women-led music festival inspired by the belief that female artists deserve more opportunities to share the stage, celebrate one another, and create something bigger than themselves. Inspired in part by the legacy of Lilith Fair, the festival brings together an all-women lineup while supporting organizations that uplift women and girls, demonstrating that success becomes even more powerful when it creates opportunities for others.
There’s an important lesson here that extends far beyond music. Too often, we wait for someone else to invite us into the room, create the platform, or recognize the need. We convince ourselves that if something doesn’t exist, someone smarter, bigger, or more established will eventually build it. But history tells us something different. Progress happens when individuals notice a gap and decide they are willing to fill it.
That philosophy has guided so much of what we’ve built at THIS IS IT NETWORK™. We recognized that women needed more than entertainment. They needed a community where their stories mattered, their expertise was valued, and their voices could be heard. Rather than waiting for someone else to create that space, we built one.
The most inspiring leaders don’t simply celebrate their own success, they create opportunities for others to succeed alongside them. They understand that influence isn’t measured by how many people follow you, but by how many people you help elevate. When women intentionally support, mentor, collaborate with, and amplify one another, everyone benefits. New ideas emerge. New businesses grow. New leaders find their confidence. Entire communities become stronger.
Whether you’re an artist, entrepreneur, executive, educator, or community leader, ask yourself one simple question: What void do I have the power to fill?
Maybe it’s creating a networking group. Maybe it’s mentoring young professionals. Maybe it’s launching a business, starting a podcast, hosting an event, or building a platform that gives others a voice. Whatever it is, don’t wait for permission.
The world doesn’t change because people notice what’s missing. It changes because someone decides to do something about it.
Be the person who creates the opportunity.
Be the person who opens the door.
Be the person who builds the table instead of waiting for a seat.
Because when women elevate women, remarkable things happen, and that’s where real change begins.
Be Olivia. We are so looking forward to the Daisy Chain Fields festival.
