Three Key Things to Consider When Creating a Podcast.

By Sarah Humphrey –  https://www.instagram.com/it.aint.it.sis/

When initially starting a podcast, you can feel lost and confused with where to start. If you hop on Instagram for a moment, you’ll find thousands of people offering their unsolicited advice on how to do this and how to do that. It can be overwhelming, frustrating, and even debilitating. It can stop you dead in your tracks, unable to begin.

I, for one, fell victim to this mindset months prior to starting my own podcast. I dealt with a lot of imposter syndrome, self-confidence issues, and apathy toward diving head first into my ambitions with the fear that others would laugh. And you know what, some people probably did. But I decided to not let the opinions of others keep me from my calling. So while it can be daunting starting something like podcasting or blogging, I’ve narrowed down my top 3 pieces of advice when diving head first into the podcasting and blogging world.

  • Research!

The most important thing besides starting is researching how you are going to get this wonderful new idea off the ground. Want to know how to create a podcast or blog? YouTube, Instagram, and of course Google are great places to start. Personally, I used a website called Buzzsprout that provided the step -by-step process of creating a podcast. Now, I use Anchor, which has allowed me to monetize my podcast.

  • Join a Community!

Another great place to start is by joining a community of likeminded people. How do you do this you ask? Easy! Facebook is an amazing platform to join various engagement groups of women interested in the same things as you. I met some of my closest podcasting friends in an engagement group, and now we Facetime almost every week. Who ever said Facebook was dead?

  • Discipline & Consistency!

Lastly, I would say that dedicating the time to create this new wonderful idea of yours is key. Discipline and consistency are skills to acquire! Set aside some time on a Saturday or Sunday to focus on creating! It can be difficult to get yourself to sit down and do the damn thing. But if it’s important to you, you’ll find a way to get it done.

Staring something new, especially in a saturated market, is unsettling to a certain extent. You question if anyone will ever see your content. You ask yourself if your ambitions are truly worth it. But let me tell you something: they are! Both your smallest and biggest ambitions are worth it because you are worth it. And that is reason enough to start today.
