How to Deal with Big Changes

{By: Lauren Trunfio} Sometimes big life changes come at the spur of a moment. When new opportunities present itself, it can be exciting, but also with that excitement comes stress and feelings of anxiety. When something new enters your life, it can be hard to think about the positives without letting negative thoughts burden you. That being said, there are ways to relieve the stress that comes with big change, and we are here to discuss just some of those ways!

Seek support from loved ones

Friends and family are here for you no matter what, let them help navigate you through these changes! Talking things through is not only therapeutic, but studies have shown that social support bolsters resilience in high stress situations. Talking through things with friends and family can also help you navigate your true feelings that might have been bottled up. Nobody knows you like your closest support system does, so don’t shy away from leaning on them during these times.

Think positive!

Change is scary, but in reality it can result in plenty of positive life changes. Whether that be meeting new friends, getting more opportunities to travel, career growth, or even personal growth, it is important for us to remind ourselves of the positives before we think about potential hardships.

Take a break from social media

If you need some time to clear your mind, try going out for the day and leaving your phone at home. If you absolutely need your phone with you throughout the day, we suggest silencing your notifications and refraining from checking social media. We know that constantly checking Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook can seem a bit habitual at this point, but if you need to stop and really meditate with your thoughts, this is the best possible way to do so!
