Cool Weather Beauty Tips
{ By Linda McElvenny }
Even though it’s March, it’s still cold. Many of you have been complaining about dry skin and asking what you can do.
First of all, you need to understand why your skin is so dry. In the winter, cold weather, low moisture in the air and hot water can all dry out the skin. It’s also possible that you need to change your skincare routine in the winter.
Here are some tips to help you address cold weather dryness:
- Use a humidifier or diffuser to add moisture to the air
- Use warm not hot water when washing
- Use a cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type. After washing your skin should feel dewy. If it feels tight or dry, you are disturbing the natural PH balance. Be sure you are using a gentle, non stripping cleanser.
- Exfoliating is an important step in the skincare routine but you can overdo it. Reduce the number times you exfoliate and be sure to replenish the lost oils.
- Consider using a heavier moisturizer in the winter. Be sure you are applying when your skin is still damp to lock in the moisture.
- Continue to use sunscreen every day! Protect your skin from the sun even in the winter.
- Be sure you are drinking enough water. Hydrate from the inside too.
Protect your skin so there’s no itch!! If you need to make some changes in your skincare routine, I can help.
