Staying Connected: The Power of Relationships
Some of the most meaningful opportunities in business don’t come from a cold pitch, a quick follow-up, or an immediate transaction. They come from staying connected, sometimes quietly, sometimes consistently, and over time. Recently, we hosted WeWin – Celebrating Women in Sports and Leadership at The Hivery, and the event itself was a reminder of why relationships matter more than ever. This gathering was made possible through long-standing connections with Grace Kraaijvanger and Kristen Loken, colleagues I first met years ago at a conference, long before WeWin existed in its current form.
At the time, there was no agenda. No deal on the table. No immediate outcome to measure. There was simply a connection, and often that is all you need.
In a world that often prioritizes speed, scale, and instant ROI, it can be tempting to view relationships transactionally. But the most impactful collaborations are rarely rushed. They are built slowly, through trust, shared values, mutual respect, and genuine curiosity about one another’s work.
Staying connected doesn’t mean constant communication or forced check-ins. It means remembering the people who inspired you, supported you, challenged you, or aligned with your vision and finding ways to remain present in each other’s worlds as you grow. It means celebrating each other’s wins, showing up when it counts, and allowing relationships to evolve naturally.
When we reconnect years later, we bring new experiences, expanded perspectives, and deeper clarity about what we want to build. That’s when collaboration becomes powerful, not because it’s convenient, but because it’s earned.
WeWin was not the result of a single conversation or a quick follow-up email. It was the result of staying connected, believing in one another’s work, and trusting that when the timing was right, we would build something meaningful together.
As you continue to grow your career, your business, or your platform, hold on to the connections you make along the way. Not every relationship needs to lead somewhere immediately. Some are meant to grow quietly in the background, until one day, they become the foundation for something extraordinary.
At THIS IS IT NETWORK™, we believe community is not built overnight. It’s built over time—through consistency, collaboration, and the courage to stay connected.
